A new Mobile Mammography Clinic from Atrium Health Navicent is changing how Middle Georgians access preventive care. Since January, this full-size medical coach has been rolling into workplaces across the region, turning parking spaces into places of prevention.
Making Health Part of the Workday
For many, squeezing in preventive care means a balancing act of schedules, travel, and missed work hours. The mobile clinic erases those obstacles for breast cancer screening. Employers offer a parking space, and employees step out for a quick 15-minute appointment. This workplace access is making a real impact, especially in schools where teachers have little time to spare.
Inside the Atrium Health Navicent Mobile Mammography Clinic
Step inside the Mobile Mammography Clinic and you enter a space designed to function like a fully equipped diagnostic center. It is outfitted with 3D gold standard mammography equipment, ensuring the same level of care found in a hospital setting. After each exam, board-certified radiologists review the images first. To comply with FDA requirements, every mammogram is then given a second read using ProFound AI, which adds an extra layer of precision and consistency. Most results are available within 48 hours, and both patients and their physicians receive updates within 10 business days. If additional images are needed, Atrium Health Navicent’s Breast Center scheduling team contacts the patient directly to arrange follow-up care.
Employers receive a simple snapshot of how many employees were screened and how many require additional evaluation, without receiving any personal health details. All reporting complies with HIPAA regulations, ensuring that employees’ privacy is protected and giving employers confidence in offering the service.
Expanding Diagnostic Access Across the Region
In under a year, Atrium Health Navicent’s Mobile Mammography Clinic has screened more than 1,100 community members. Demand is so high that a second coach is already being planned, ready to bring care to even more of Middle Georgia.
Employers as Partners in Prevention
Latasha Hill, Breast Imaging Service Line Manager at Atrium Health Navicent, emphasizes the transformative impact of this initiative:
“When employers bring mobile mammography to their teams, they remove one of the biggest barriers to preventive care: access. This program makes it easy for employees to prioritize their health, and ultimately, that benefits families, workplaces, and our whole community.”
